Our first fieldtrip of the Summer to the Wildlife Experience!!

Random Happenings

Loren and Connor went camping for a father and sons outing
We bought them a 4 man tent for such events. Loren was practicing putting it up.
In the background is Taylor and her friend Sophie, Sophie just moved in next door and they are exactly the same age. I'm loving this because Taylor has a friend finally!
Aubrey and Connor's last day of school. They grew so much from the
first of the year and did a fabulous job of learning!  Way to go guys!
We decided to set up a summer school for the kids. So, this is the first day,
Loren was teaching money sense.
Taylor loves being part of school, she is starting to catch on, she wants to be grown up so badly!
More school...those packets on the table are fullof math sheets for the kids.
Taylor posing during school....
This is what the school schedule looks like. There is 30 minutes of Reading, and 30 minutes of Piano, so while Aubrey is practicing piano Connor is reading and then they switch. I read to Taylor for the entire hour. Then there is 20 minutes of writing and I give them a subject each day to write on, I'm trying to help them with creative writing. Taylor tells me what she wants to say and I writing it for her. Then there is 20 minutes of spelling and 45 minutes of math. Grandpa is in charge of spelling and math...neither are my subjects.

Every Thursday is fieldtrip day so we spend the entire day doing something fun and then on Friday their writing assignment is about the fieldtrip. So far this has worked out well. They just spend a few hours in the morning doing school, then the afternoon is for playing or going to the pool. They are also a lot less bored this summer with something to do.

It has now been a year~

June 6, 2010 was exactly one year since the children have seen their mom Danielle. I often wonder what they are thinking, they talk about her often, but even Aubrey says her memory is fading. I keep showing them pictures of Danielle hoping that they won't forget her, she wasn't always a terrible mom...just the last year or two.

I am blessed and so thankful for these children in my life. I am more than thankful that God has trusted me with their care.
