There is nothing like getting a phone call that ones dad is in the hospital. My mother called me one night, upset. She told me dad was in the hospital, I asked her if she needed me to come out and if she did I'd be there. So, I got off the phone with mom at 7 pm at night, and booked my flight for the next morning at 7. I called my sister-in-law who just happened to be free, so she picked planned to pick me up and drive me up to my parents.
I got busy packing and doing some laundry, I had no idea how long I'd be, but I planned for a week. The morning came so fast, as I had little sleep. Although, I tried to get sleep, it was elusive to me. I woke up at 4:30, got ready and out the door by 5, I had to be at the airpot early, so I could make my fight. By the way, Airlines totally rip people off who have emergencies, because that was such an expensive ticket.
I realized that when we are prompted by our heavenly father to be somewhere and do something, we don't question we do what we are prompted to do. I know that God hears and answers my prayers, and I know that my mom needed help. I felt so helpless being so far away.
When I arrived my sister-in-law, Kim, picked me up. She was able to drive me the 2 hours to my parents house (actually, we went to the hospital). Dad looked great, but mom was worn out and it was clean she was frazzled by al that the doctors were saying. Kim, talked to my mom some to see if she could calm her down so she didn't worry, but I could see that mom was just glad someone was there to help. I stayed until Tuesday, and flew home. Dad was released from the hospital the day I got there, he had been in the hospital three days. It was nice to spend some time with mom and dad, and so glad that mom felt relief.
Mom told me that she slept soundly with someone else in the house. I can appreciate that!!
I love that through everything, heavenly father kept me grounded so that I was able to be a calming influence for my mother. She is such a great lady, but she does not like hospitals. I don't blame her.
When times are so tough, it is nice to fall back on what we know is stable, and that is my faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. My love for my family and the ability I have to feel that spirit working in my life.
As luck would have it, my son and his family moved up closer to my parents, and they were able to pick me up, I spent one night with them and flew out early the next morning for home. The bonus was I got to see my adorable grandchildren, Paityn and Kayden. So, so blessed!!
